Ashoka — Trail of Buddhism in Madhya Pradesh.
The second entrance is the real one. Where the colonnade was open, grey stone and daylight, the vestibule is enclosed, deep red and lit entirely by concealed edge-lighting — a warm gold line that runs the full length of both walls at floor and ceiling and pulls the eye straight down the corridor.
The walls are modelled relief rather than graphics on board: figures, columns and architectural detail in terracotta, with the interpretive text set into the surface. A lit lotus panel is set into the floor line, and a screen is recessed into the end wall beneath the title.
The title wall names the whole journey — ASHOKA: TRAIL OF BUDDHISM IN MADHYA PRADESH — and the first chapter panel, The Prince of the Mauryan Empire, is already in place beside you. The museum has stopped describing a landscape and started telling one man’s story.
